PERFORMANCE & ART
THIS IS READING
This Is Reading is a dynamic site-specific multimedia installation blending live performance and visual media. The installation occupied the historic Franklin Street Railroad Station in Downtown Reading for three weekends in July 2017, re-animating the long vacant building.
HOW TO MOVE A LANDSCAPE
Directed by Tony Gerber, this short film collages together footage of the artist, Utqiagvik, various scientists research, and the devastating effect of climate change on this vulnerable landscape and the Inupiaq people.
The Bell, The Digger, and the Tropical Pharmacy
At a US-owned pharmaceutical plant in Cidra, Puerto Rico marked for demolition, a sonic digger whose shovel has been replaced by a cast iron bell tears through the walls and facilities of the building, creating music and a de facto memorial as a byproduct of the destruction.
QM, I Think I’ll Call Her QM tells the story of Dr. Ruth Fielding (Kathleen Chalfant,) a child psychologist, shut-in who is visited by a creature, half-lizard, half-woman. The creature, QM (Ann-Sofi Siden) is unhappy in captivity but Dr. Fielding is desperate to keep her and attempts every remedy from altering QM’s diet to breeding her with a male escort. The 30-minute short has been honored at International film festivals, art installations and the Biennale Sao Paulo.
